Our local weekly newspaper Metro premiered our music video for "Night Train" today, stating that we are "going places"! We appreciate their staffs continued support of the band and our music, which is why we chose them for our premiere.
|| NIGHT TRAIN || music video coming Monday November 7th
Thanks to Aaron Axelsen and Live 105 for premiering "Night Train" on Soundcheck last night! You can only listen to our new single on Live 105 until our music video premiere in the upcoming weeks, so be sure to request it every Sunday night by texting '36105' or tweeting them.
We wanted to thank C2SV & Cafe Stritch again for having us play last Thursday. It was a magical night playing to a packed room of music lovers! We really appreciate Nick Veronin's continued support of our music; he's always championed our band and we cannot be more grateful! Check out the article and photos of Day 1 from this local music conference.
"Cafe Stritch was packed for two energetic sets by two fantastic local acts—the EDM-tinged alt-rock quartet Citabria and the new-school cumbia sounds of Corazon Salvaje."
Huge thanks to Nick Veronin at Metro Newspaper for selecting us as one of the notable bands playing SoFA Street Fair on Sunday September 11th, as well as using our photo for the main article image! We are honored to play such a great local homegrown music festival on such an important day in our history. We play the outside Williams Street stage at 6:30pm and hope to see everyone there!
It's always exciting to have a well known online magazine interview your band, and even more thrilling to have their headline rave about your latest song. We are truly thankful for Paste Magazine taking the time to interview us about "Take My Heart" and state that we took their hearts. We want to give Louise Parker a HUGE SHOUT-OUT for her kind words, stating that "Citabria is a noteworthy band that has been thriving in the California music scene."
No Depression Magazine interviewed us about our musical influences, inspirations, and behind the scenes info on how "Take My Heart" was written and recorded, plus what musical legacy we want to leave behind. With a headline of "Citabria Brings Us the Goods" you know it's going to be an interesting read!
Our drummer Kevin Azevedo did a great job with his recap of our SXSW experience. Thanks to Jeremy Davis & EthnoCloud for posting it and stating: "Citabria takes our hearts at the festival this year and share their SXSW adventure."
A personal message from our frontman Leopoldo Larsen:
"For those that know me the closest know that I had some rough years as a kid and even going through my 20’s was no walk in the park. Certain events in my life caused me a great deal of pain and regret, which left me vulnerable to bad energies. If it weren’t for Music and Martial arts, I don’t think I would have made it this far. Thankfully God gifted me with great teachers and mentors to help me find my path.
Music allows me to keep the light and positive energy flowing that I’ve always felt so deeply. Always knowing there is something bigger and greater than my own existence. My emotions have always been magnified and I like to express that side through music.
Combative arts made me stronger physically and mentally combined. I’ve learned to focus my fear and use it as a way to guard my body and spirit from those who wish to harm me. I believe ever person has the right to defend themselves. It's like learning how to swim. Eventually the tide gets pulls in and one must confront the deep waters.
Being a high school dropout and not going to collage usually means you're not going to have an easy life. Fortunately Music and fighting became my school of choice and luckily one became successful enough to put food on the table. So here’s a nice short interview with Jess Luoma from The Bay Bridged about how me as a musician pays the bills and some interesting questions on how my job relates to music. Hope you enjoy it. I’m the last interview on the page."
We are playing the world-famous Whisky a Go Go on Sat April 9th with Attaloss, The North, Manifest Illusion, and Gravity Layne! We have some pre-sale tickets to sell, so if you're in the LA/Hollywood area, please hit us up for tix!
We also can't wait to play Knuckleheads with The Barebones and Beachwood Coyotes on Fri April 8th! There's no cover, so no excuses not to come!
It was Citabria's first appearance at SXSW this year and it was amazing! We had seven performances in five days all over downtown Austin. We had the privilege of sharing the stage with some really great bands and got to meet a lot of new fans. We will definitely be returning next year. Here's a short glimpse into our experience!
Check out our interview with Independent Artist Buzz:
"Bringing a bit of electo-flare into the line up, the group delivers a punch of sound, heading into their unofficial shows at SXSW this year. This year they will be releasing a series of singles which has kicked off with “Take My Heart,” which has us eager to hear more."
